Bob Phillips, Texas County ReporterBob Phillips

This carved emu egg pays homage to Texas broadcasting legend, Bob Phillips, a man that has been blessed with the ability to take his enjoyment of people and share that joy with others.   People respond to that appreciation by enjoying him right back.  So much so that the Annual Bob Phillips Texas Country Reporter Festival is held every fall in Waxahachie, TX.

Almost everyone compares Bob Phillips to the late Charles Kuralt, and according to Phillips, it is justified.   Inspired by the Kuralt's On the Road pieces, Bob and a group of reporters and photographers talked Channel 4 into allowing them to do a half hour show on Texas folks, which first aired in 1972 as 4 Texas Reporter

In 1986 Phillips left the station and began producing the show himself, renaming  it Texas County Reporter and marketing it through Phillips Productions.  It is now seen on RFD-TV.

He has hosted the show for over 30 years, sharing the stories of "ordinary people doing extraordinary things" from one end of the state to the other.  He also has several books and videos available   You can visit the Texas County Reporter website for more information.

This carved egg comes with it's own hand turned hardwood egg stand, and  can become a personalized gift with an inscription on the back.

Because of the variations of color and texture inherent in the emu egg itself, each carved egg will be unique and make a distinctive addition to any decor or collection.
