DeForest Kelley
January 20, 1920 - June 11th, 1999
This carved emu egg features DeForest Kelley as our favorite
doctor, Leonard Horatio "Bones" McCoy.
The son of a Baptist minister, DeForest found he enjoyed singing
in the church choir. This led to singing on a few radio shows and
a modest career as a singer. Moving to California in 1937, he
worked at various jobs while developing an acting career. As he
gained a reputation as a character actor (playing the bad guy) he also
gained a friend in Gene Roddenberry, appearing in several TV shows
written by Roddenberry. When Kelley first saw the Star Trek
pilot, he reportedly turned to the series creator and said: "Gene,
that will be the biggest hit ever or the biggest miss ever."
The Leonard "Bones" McCoy Carved Emu Egg can become a
personalized gift with an inscription on the back and comes with a hand
turned hardwood egg stand.
Because of the variations of color and texture inherent in the emu
egg itself, each carved egg will be unique and make a distinctive
addition to any decor or collection. Whether you are looking for a
distinctive housewarming gift, birthday present or other special
occasion gift, this carved egg would be a wonderful surprise for any
Star Trek fan who already "has everything".
