Walter Koenig

This carved emu egg features Walter Koenig as Ensign Pavel Andreievich Chekov, navigator of the U.S.S. Enterprise.

In addition to a 30 year stage career, Koenig appeared in many television shows and made for TV movies.  In 1967 he landed the role of Ensign Pavel Chekov in the original Start Trek series, which he revived for the Star Trek movies.  He also stared as Alfred Bester in the TV series Babylon 5. 

A talented writer, Koenig has written for the television shows Family, Matthew Starr, Land of the Lost, Class of '65 and others. His books include: Chekov's Enterprise (recounts the making of the first Star Trek movie in 1979), Buck Alice and the Actor-Robot, (a satiric fantasy novel), Warped Factors: A Neurotic's Guide to the Universe (autobiography), and a three-part comic book series entitled Raver. Koenig wrote and performed a one-character piece entitled You're Never Alone When You're A Schizophrenic, which was a finalist in the 1996 New York Film Festival Awards.

Koenig has taught classes in acting and directing at UCLA, the Sherwood Oaks Experiment Film College, the Actor's Alley Repertory Company in Los Angeles, and the California School of Professional Psychology. He instituted theatre programs at a summer camp for disturbed children in upstate New York as well as for a settlement house in New York City.

Koenig and his wife Judy Levitt (since 1965) have two children and live in Los Angeles.
