Darth Vader
David Prowse
This carved emu egg features our favorite Star Wars Villain - Darth
Vader. The Dark Lord of the Sith seems to be a larger than
life composite by George Lucas. Credits show Vader played by British actor David
Prowse, however, the voice was that of James Earl Jones. In Return
of the Jedi yet another actor was used in the death
scene.
When originally approached by George Lucas, the 6'7" Prowse was
offered the role of Chewbacca but turned it down because he did not want
to play another masked role. He was then offered the role of the villain,
which he immediately took without even seeing a script. After
arriving on the set and visiting wardrobe he found that he was once
again playing a masked role - albeit a very, very good part.
David Prowse was misdiagnosed with "tuberculosis of the
knee" and wore a leg brace from age 13 to 15. By the time the
brace was permanently removed, the leg was smaller than the other and he
began swimming to strengthen it. About that time he also
discovered body building and nine years later competed unsuccessfully in
the Mr. Universe contest. Switching to weightlifting, he became
the British Heavyweight Weight Lifting Champion of 1962, 1963
and 1964 and retired undefeated.
In 1976 Prowse took on the role of the Green Cross Code Man - a
superhero that teaches road safety to children via the "Green Cross
Code". His television commercials and school visits have
saved the lives of countless school children - in Great Briton reports
of child pedestrian related deaths have been cut in half. Not what
you would expect from the Lord of the Sith, is it?
The Darth Vader Carved Emu Egg can become a personalized gift with
an inscription on the back and comes with a hand turned hardwood egg
stand.
Because of the variations of color and texture inherent in the emu
egg itself, each carved egg will be unique and make a distinctive
addition to any decor or collection. Whether you are looking for a
distinctive housewarming gift, birthday present or other special
occasion gift, this carved egg would be a wonderful surprise for any
Star Trek fan that thinks they have everything.
