Fox 4's Good Day News Team If you live in Dallas-Fort Worth or the surrounding area, these faces are probably very familiar to you. These two carved emu eggs feature Fox 4's Good Day News Team. The first emu egg features Tim Ryan, Megan Henderson, Todd Caruth and Evan Andrews.
A graduate of Texas Christian University, Todd Caruth was born and raised in Dallas-Ft. Worth, and has been reporting on traffic since 1989. He makes the drive in so he can be on the air at 5:00 AM and let us know what he has just gone through. If you can't wait for the hourly reports, you can check his BLOG which he keeps up to date (and very chatty) with info on anything happening on the Metroplex highways and byways that might slow traffic down. Todd knows that the viewers are more interested in what he is saying than what he is wearing - to prove the point he started wearing the same tie all week long. Does this mean he has 52 ties? We don't know, but the viewers caught on and now he wears "the tie of the week." Oh, BTW Todd, we loved the pink shirt.
Tim Ryan has been co-anchoring FOX 4's Good Day since its beginning. One of the most popular features on Good Day occurs on Friday - "Tell it to Tim" covers such important questions as Should spanking be outlawed?, Using the self-checkout lanes, Driving on ice, upcoming elections, and Do you name your cars? Most of Tim's career in radio and television has been as a field reporter. He's reported from five continents and covered major wars, minor conflicts, political campaigns, floods, fires, hurricanes and tornadoes. As you can see, we have two versions of the Tim Ryan carving. She has to deal with so many things the guys on the set don't...... like shoes. According to her BLOG, she was forced to choose style over comfort and give up the flip-flops she had been wearing behind the desk when the set was redesigned in September 2006. Personally, I think they should give her bunny slippers to wear, or maybe "fox slippers" would be more appropriate. Megan Henderson grew up in San Clemente, CA, graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and started her career in broadcasting in Wichita Falls, KS. She became a general assignment reporter for FOX Salt Lake City and worked her way up to co-anchor "Good Day Utah" and FOX 13 News at Noon. She started Co-Anchoring the Fox 4 Good Day in August 2003. She has done a stint as an actress, playing a news reporter on Fox's Prison Break
Everyone is affected by the weather. Meteorologists let us know what to expect with both long term and short term forecasts. Without them, we would be guessing that "It feels like rain" instead of knowing that a tornado was headed our way. After getting his masters degree, Evan Andrews started his career as a meteorologist in Madison, WI and later worked in Massachusetts. After many years of cold northern weather, Andrews moved his family to Texas where the winters are milder and the summers...... well he refers to it as "a WEE BIT warm." Texas Christian University graduate "Chopper Chip" reports from the sky on traffic situations unless the weather or mechanical problems ground him. When that happens, he enlists the aid of the Texas Department of Transportation. TXDOT allows Chip to use their strategically placed cameras to keep the public informed. Gary has carved his portrait here from within the chopper. Visit his blog for updated information on ongoing construction in the metroplex area.
Maria Sotolongo can be seen weekdays each morning on Good Day and at noon where she the weather. Born in Spain, Maria moved to Houston when she was 10. She has a degree in communications and started her broadcasting career as host of "Ritmo Latino" on a local Spanish station. After jet setting around for many years, she decided she needed a change and wound up as weather anchor for the Telemundo-Houston morning show. She was transferred to Telemundo-Dallas, and eventually left to join the Fox 4 family, which she says she enjoys. Maria Sotolongo has had a cameo on Fox's Prison Break.
Dan Godwin anchors the 5:00 a.m. edition of Good Day. He also does live segments for the later editions. Dan grew up in southern California near Zuma Beach. After graduating from UCLA, he started his media career as a weekend cameraman at a station in Santa Maria, California. From there he went to Fresno where he eventually became a reporter and anchor before moving on to Fox 4.
