George Hosato Takei
20 April 1937, Los Angeles, CA

This carved emu egg features actor George Takei in his popular role as helmsman Hikaru Sulu on the USS Enterprise in both the TV series and several Star Trek movies.

In 1942, the Takei family was sent to Rohwer, an internment camp in Arkansas.  They were later transferred to the Tule Lake War Relocation Center in California. He and his family returned to Los Angeles at the end of World War II.

Prior to Star Trek,  Takei appeared alongside such actors as Richard Burton in Ice Palace (1960), Alec Guinness in A Majority of One (1962), Cary Grant in Walk Don't Run (1966). He was a ARVN commando serving alongside John Wayne in the Vietnam epic The Green Berets (1968). He also had an uncredited role in the 1963 film PT-109 as the helmsman who steers the Japanese destroyer over John F. Kennedy's PT-109.

Talei, known for his deep, rich voice, became the announcer for The Howard Stern Show, after the show moved to satellite radio.

The Sulu Carved Emu Egg can become a personalized gift with an inscription on the back and comes with a hand turned hardwood egg stand.
